Pacific Trumpetfish

Aulostomus chinensis

The Pacific trumpetfish is a predatory fish that occurs in a large number of different color patterns on Hawaiian reefs. The most striking color is bright yellow, similar to yellow tangs, but they also come in black, brown, red, gray, and more, sometimes with stripes and tail spots. Yellow Pacific trumpetfish often hide within schools of yellow tangs.
