Bluestripe Snapper

Lutjanus kasmira

Bluestripe snappers are an attractive fish common on Hawaiian reefs, often seen in schools around heads of coral. These fish were imported in the 1950s as an attempt to introduce a new commercial and game food fish. They are now seen throughout the Hawaiian islands but are considered a nuisance by fisherman and failed to gain commercial success.
