Bluefin Trevally

Caranx melampygus

Bluefin trevally are large and fast-swimming jack fish. They have an amazing and beautiful electric blue color, iridescent, stunning, and unforgettable when seen beneath the water. Often bluefin trevally are found in groups of three or more. The adult fish in the photos were seen in the same location several years in a row in La’aloa Bay near Kailua-Kona. The juveniles where photographed at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area.
